WELCOME

St. Maximus Confessor

Welcome to the Georgian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Ireland, parish of St Maximus the Confessor.

While the Orthodox Churches are in communion with each other they are organised, as in the early church, into national churches each of which has a Patriarch and Holy Synod as its leadership.

The Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church is Ilia II and our shepherd is His Grace Archbishop Zenon.

Our parish is primarily drawn from people who have immigrated to Ireland from the Republic of Georgia, These people established the church in Ireland without a priest and through their prayer and tireless work have managed to establish a strong and vibrant parish.

In May 2012, with the blessing of His Grace Dermuid Martin Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, the Carmelite community in Avila Dublin gave us the use of their church for our worship. In addition these kind monks have also given us the use of other rooms within their monastery to facilitate our community activities.georgia spatriarqo gerbi
